  • Absolutely delightful show by the artists at “Nruthyollasa”
  • One sentence that says it all- A frilicking performance and a great entertainment!

There can be two important factors in every art form. One, art for entertainment and another one is art for self-entertainment. It is essential for an artist to keep this in mind and perform the task. Both the factors play a crucial role in elevating the presentation to an extraordinary performance. These factors are especially significant in the art forms that are performed on stage. This may be the reason for these factors taking the centre stage and merging in performing arts.

It is a notable element in the Indian dance forms that the sages themselves have added the important factors responsible for entertainment and self-entertainment. Entertainment is mainly the expectations of the audience from the dancers whereas self-entertainment or soul satisfaction is being self-empathetic in what they want to convey. When the performer is successful in attainting this, naturally the audience are delightfully entertained. Generally, this process is called as Parakayapravesha, wherein the artist forgets one’s own entity and involves in the character that he/she portrays and brings justice to the character. But it is not an easy task to master this skill. Along with continuous and dedicated practice, it is important to understand the selected songs and situations. In addition to this, the emotion-filled gentle performance will make it memorable for the audience.

To prove all these factors, last Sunday, “Ananya Nruthyollasa” was held at Malleshwaram’s Seva Sadana auditorium. Ananya organization in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan hosted the 88th Nruthyollasa programme. The rain gods seemed to be eager for the performance just as the dance lovers in the audience. Vid. Pannaga M, Vid. Shreya Balaji and Vid. Surabhi Bharadwaj were absolutely delightful in showing the nataraja darshana for the audience and were immersed in the performance for more than two hours. The dance, expressions and purity of body languages were evident of the experience of the three artists. The flawless techniques and energy of the artists filled the stage and captivated the audience during the entire performance.

Elevation to the Realms of Enchantment

Vidushi Shreya Balaji began the event with the invocation of Lord Ganesha through her graceful moves. With her mesmerising performance, she literally took the audience to the spiritual realms of Shiva and Shri Krishna. Vidushi Surabhi Bharadwaj’s soulful and disciplined performance was top-notch followed by her devoted students performing amazingly. This indeed highlighted the relevance and continuity of Guru-Shishya (teacher-student) heritage of our culture in the present day as well. Following Vid. Surabhi Bharadwaj, it was Vidushi Pannaga who transported the audience to world of Shri Krishna and Bhagavatha. It is a challenge to present a story with beautiful moves, expressions and emotions simultaneously. Vidushi Pannaga has mastered it and her performance was fluid and effortless.

Overall, it is apt to say that Ananya Cultural Academy, for the past 25 years has been incredibly supporting the performing and visual artists in various capacities and through the 88th Nruthyollasa event, the academy has continued its legacy to uphold the talents of artists. The contagious energy of the artists has made it a successful event of 2024.
